Slowing Down at the Wrong Time

Friday morning, before the kids come in, I’m thinking about all the things I need to get done. I could just prioritize everything on the pending due dates, but there’s also the varying levels of emotional energy need to for each task to take into account. In fact, since returning from AZ I’m horrified to discover that I seem to have the same “one task” a day syndrome that my folks have, in that after work I seem to be able to accomplish only one task before pooping out and wanting to crawl into bed. Scary thought, that I seem to be slowing down just when I need to ramp way up. Ack.

So, in approximate order of due dates, here’s a partial list of things-to-do:

  1. I need to do and send in the final corrections for the yearbook (due today/Friday)
  2. send income tax info to my accountant (over due – must due today!)
  3. update demilleknights/crusader news website (over the weekend)
  4. send Juls “get well”/”happy birthday” flowers (GW overdue/HP due Monday)
  5. grades for 124 students are due on Monday
  6. set-up for Open House (due Tuesday/come in to work on Sunday)
  7. ask brother matt if he can help/co-pilot for the move to Florida (over due/must do this weekend)
  8. get new apartment in Orlando (ASAP/would be less anxious if this were done in 2 wks)
  9. send re-app to Pepperdine to continue EdD (two weeks)
  10. apply for financial-aid for Pepperdine (two weeks)
  11. read/proof read coworker, Mark Chavez’s thesis paper (over the weekend)
  12. read/skim books for FullSail course, need to check out about one book per week
  13. make U-Haul reservation for the Florida trip (by next week)
  14. pack-up classroom (box or toss) – over the next 8 weeks
  15. pack-up apartment (box or toss) – over the next 8 weeks
  16. send 30-day notice for Long Beach apartment (4 weeks)
  17. update blogs to wordpress 2.5x (ASAP)
